 About the Mutual Aid Network

What It Is

The Mutual Aid Resource List is a community-built directory of people offering support, skills, and services to one another. It exists to make care, resources, and assistance more accessible especially for those who may not otherwise be able to afford or find support.

This network is rooted in reciprocity moving away from purely transactional systems and toward community-based exchange, where we support one another in ways that feel sustainable and aligned.

How It Started

This network was created from the recognition that many people struggle to access basic support, while others have skills, resources, or time they’re willing to share. It also grew from the need for a space where organizations, individuals, and groups can connect and coordinate their efforts.

Rather than relying solely on traditional systems, this space was built to reconnect people directly making it easier to give, receive, and collaborate within the community.

Why It’s Needed

Many forms of care and support are often difficult to access due to cost, availability, or systemic barriers.

This network exists to help bridge that gap creating more opportunities for:

  • accessible and affordable support

  • shared resources

  • community connection

  • mutual care outside of traditional structures

Who It’s For

It’s open to everyone, but especially for those who feel called to build more accessible, community-centered support systems and work in reciprocity.

This network is for anyone who:

  • is looking for support or resources

  • wants to offer their skills, services, or time

  • is open to collaboration, exchange, or community-based care

It’s also for organizations, groups, and individuals who want to connect and collaborate on shared missions or projects—such as environmental groups working together, those coordinating support for the homeless in the city and surrounding areas, or businesses seeking to create more sustainable, human-centered pathways.

Whether you’re an individual, small business, practitioner, or community group, you’re welcome here.

  • Opportunities for collaboration and shared projects

  • Connections between organizations and community efforts

What You’ll Find Here

  • Free offerings and support

  • Reduced-rate services

  • Barter and trade opportunities

  • Skill-sharing and community resources

Each offering is unique and set by the individual providing it. Some may be fully free, while others may invite exchange, trade, or flexible pricing.

Emergency Support & What to Expect

This network also includes a centralized space for emergency services and immediate support, designed to be a one-stop place to find help when it’s needed most.

Reaching out for help in a crisis can feel overwhelming, especially when there is uncertainty around what will happen, what may be asked, or whether there are any costs involved. These unknowns can create hesitation or delays when support is urgently needed.

This space aims to reduce those barriers by clearly outlining:

  • how to access each service

  • what typically happens when you reach out

  • any known costs, fees, or requirements

By making this information more transparent and accessible, the goal is to help people feel more prepared, reduce fear or uncertainty, and connect to support more quickly.
